Mr Salim is a very enthusiastic and passionate youth sports educator. He is passionate about both sport and education and considers it a privilege to be able to mentor and inspire young students in their learning journey. As a former national team athlete and a sports scholar who is always learning, Mr Salim strongly believes that physical education goes far beyond physical development and encompasses important social skills, teamwork and the value of hard work. He also believes in the power of sport to teach valuable life lessons: such as discipline, resilience and sportsmanship.

Mr Salim is thrilled to be joining Sunrise Kevin as part of an exceptional team that shares the same passion for working together to enlighten their students in all aspects of life.

In addition to teaching Physical Education, he maintains an active attitude towards life by participating in different sports such as basketball and football, consistently exercising, enjoying walks, reading and playing the guitar.

Mr Salim is eagerly looking forward to the challenges ahead and is looking forward to meeting everyone and embarking on this amazing journey together.

Maria has worked for the New Zealand Home Office, Children’s Social Services in the UK and Newcastle University, where she worked with International English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL) students.

Maria loves learning and has a lot of experience in working with children, not only because she is a teacher but also because she is a mother.

Maria has been part of the CKWA family for three years and is excited to join the CKWA teaching team to share her knowledge and love of teaching.

Ms. Luan has eight years of teaching experience in international schools, and during this time she has sought to innovate and enhance her students’ learning experience. Her teaching style focuses on developing students’ interest in maths and their ability to use it practically. She believes that maths is not just a bunch of formulas and numbers, but a tool that guides us to think and solve problems. Her teaching philosophy is dedicated to creating a positive, interactive learning environment where every child feels respected and appreciated. She believes that every student has his/her own unique learning style and potential, and her mission is to guide them to discover and develop these potentials, and to nurture them to become reflective and creative mathematical thinkers. She not only focuses on students’ knowledge acquisition, but also cares about their character and moral development. Luan is cheerful, optimistic and passionate at all times, and this attitude is always infectious to her students.

Ms Liu Hong has worked as a maths teacher in IB & IPC international schools and public institutions. She has been teaching Maths for 14 years. She has also worked as an etiquette instructor for the Red Candle Initiative organised by the Beijing Municipal Education Bureau. Her hobbies are oil painting and travelling. She believes that all beautiful things in the world are worth recording.

Hilette was born and raise in a beautifulsmall town in South Africa. After graduating from the University ofStellenbosch, she started travelling the world and soon realized that she loveslearning about different cultures and languages. She started pursuing a careerin teaching and continued to study, focusing and specializing in education ofyoung learners.

Over the past 12 years, she has worked inmany different schools and countries across Asia. She enjoys creating excitingand interesting learning environments where students can grow and learn in asafe and friendly space. She believes that it is important to help and teachstudents how to solve problems, be creative and become lifelong learners. Beingable to work with young learners every day is her passion and great joy!

Ms.Lisa has been played the violin for more than 20 years. She has performed several solo recitals and also played in orchestra for concert for 6 years. She has sufficient performance experience, and she has performed in several countries in Europe and North America as well. Ms.Lisa also has sufficient teaching experience in music, and basically in violin Lessons and music theory. She is very good at introducing music to students. She thinks that music can not only cultivate student’s sentiment, but also can cultivate their appreciation ability by studying music knowledge and theory. By practicing different music skills, students will be able to show themselves on stage. She believes that music performance is very important, it will improve their confidence, the ability of cooperation and personal expression.

In 2020, She joined an international school and worked as a primary school math teacher and a homeroom teacher, accumulating rich experiences in PYP course teaching. In teaching, Mr. Zhao is committed to conducting in-depth research on the teaching methods and content integration of the national curriculum in the context of IB. In class teaching, she focuses on communication with students and She commits to creating an active and rigorous classroom atmosphere. In class management, she pays attention to the students’ ownership status in the class, and everything is student-oriented. After completing her Diploma in Education Sophie moved to South Korea in 2006 working with primary and middle school students, while working there she discovered how rewarding it is to work with younger students, so then got a job working with kindergarten and first and second grade students. She was a home room teacher for reception aged students for 6 years while also having the opportunity to travel the world during break times.

After completing her Celta, Sophie decided to try expanding her language teaching skills by teaching adults, briefly in Thailand and then in Beijing in 2018. She eventually decided that her true passion was working with younger students so moved back to a bilingual school where she worked with students from grades two and three.

She is excited to keep working on her teaching skills while working at Kaiwen and looks forward to getting to know the students and helping them achieve their goals.

Ms. Shi has been teaching in many famous international schools in Beijing and has taught children from three-month-old babies to fifth grade primary students for twenty years. She deeply believes that interest is the best teacher and play base is the best way to learn for reception children. When children are full of interest, they will have a good mood and unlimited curiosity, which invisible motivation will lead children to explore and learn. She likes to accompany children to explore and understand the world through reading and fun activities. Ms. Shi also understands that every child is unique and learns in different ways. So she participated in various training related to psychology and children’s behavior, such as whole brain training, sensory integration, learning support, sandtray therapy, positive discipline, play therapy, etc. She will use her heart to feel children’s feelings and her love to nourish children‘s hearts.

Ms. Xu Te has been working in international schools for more than 10 years since her graduation from college. She aims to create a lively and effective teaching atmosphere which is always welcomed by students. She loves to inspire and arouse students’ interest in knowledge and exploration in accordane with their aptitude and psychological characteristics. She respects and appreciates each student and treats them with patience and love. During her spare time, she likes reading and traveling. She loves sports as well. She states, “I believe that every child is a seed of grain. I am willing to be a ray of sunshine, an oasis, a fertile soil for the seeds and wish them vibrant growth.”

Ms. Wang graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University with a bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature, and obtained her teaching credentials in English and Chinese Language. Ms. Wang is the founding teacher of Chaoyang Kaifeng School. Prior to joining Chaoyang Kaifeng School in Beijing, she taught languages and provided language learning strategies in public, bilingual and international schools. She is a willing and skilled learner and aspires to be a practitioner of “lifelong learning”.

“I strongly agree with the Soviet educator Sukhomlinsky who said, ‘Without love, there is no education’. Outside of work, I enjoy my family life, love to travel, love to read, and love to write to explore and think rationally about my education and teaching work. “

After gaining his qualification, John has now spent 8 years teaching in the UK. With much of that in a small rural school, based with-in the Forest of Dean; Gloucestershire. Here he has developed skills and mastery-based curriculums across both English and Math’s, helping the school to achieve a 200% improvement in attainment over the last 3 year. He has a wealth of experience now in this setting, both within the classroom and through the development of school wide curriculums.

Alongside his work in primary education, he has also supported the development of Plymouth Universities, Foreign Language Summer School. Here he has grown a successful summer school, aimed mostly at Chinese university aged students. Working with Chinese students is something he really enjoyed and this is where his initial interest to work within China was born.

Underpinning his practice is a drive to provide inspiring learning experiences to the children; and a desire to empower them to take control of their own learning. He is forward-thinking and driven, with his passion lying within the use and incorporation of technology in the classroom.

With ten years of experience in international school education, Ms. Tong respects and protects the individuality of each child. She believes that the essence of education is to teach a person how to live. We hope that when that day comes, they will be able to face the challenges of society with the qualities of cooperation, courage to overcome difficulties, strength of heart, and the ability to achieve happiness. We believe that every Kevorkian student can become a better version of themselves and create a better future. Ms. Tong likes to swim, read books, travel and all the good things. Ms. Tong will work to create a relaxing atmosphere, inspire children’s enthusiasm for inquiry, and learn and grow happily together with them.

After graduating from university Mr. Adrian started his career working in the in corporate marketing department for a leading pharmaceutical company, and was based in Genève, Switzerland. This position took him all over Europe conducting training sessions in procurement software. It was at this point that he realized that his passion was in teaching. After many years he decided to return to university to complete his Postgraduate Advanced Diploma. After training with Sunderland university he gained experience in both middle school and high school teaching GCSE science and AS / A-level biology. After working in the UK Mr. Adrian chose to combine his passion for traveling with his passion for teaching, and learning about other cultures, and in 2012 him and his wife moved to South Korea where he taught for 7 years.

His last teaching position was at SEM Montessori in South Korea, where he worked as Head teacher and specialist teacher throughout Kindergarten to Grade 3. He enjoyed organizing and hosting the end of year and graduation ceremonies, and took a lead role in cooking, and science experiment ASAs.

He is very grateful for the opportunities that he has had, and the culturally enriched experience that he has gained whilst teaching.

Mr. Adrian believes in work – life balance, therefore, when he is not in the classroom he is outdoors travelling and exploring new places with his wife and children.

Vivian Zhao is from Beijing in China. She is the teaching assistant for grade one and has 10 years-experience after she graduated from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. At the moment, Vivian is studying a master’s degree in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at Beijing Foreign Studies University. Vivian is a big music fan and she loves to listen to classical music. Her favorite artists are Bach, Gould and Bobby McFerrin.

Vivian is also learning to speak French and enjoys calligraphy writing when she has the free time to do so. Vivian is looking forward to working at CKWA because the school focuses deeply on art education which she believes is a fundamental way in which her students are able to express themselves socially and personally.

Jordan Climenhaga was born and raised in Saskatchewan, Canada. After graduating from University, he worked as an advisor at a major bank before deciding to pursue a career in teaching. Jordan’s first teaching position was as an English professor at a college in Bangkok, Thailand. Since then, he has accumulated more than 6 years of experience teaching children of all ages with a focus on lower primary students. Jordan is a passionate, energetic teacher who incorporates many different styles into his teaching. He enjoys having the opportunity to help children develop new skills while improving their confidence and emotional well-being. In his free time, Jordan enjoys playing hockey and learning foreign languages. He is currently studying HSK Level 4 and hopes to one day become fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Jackie has experience of teaching Chinese both as a mother tongue and as a second language at international schools including an IB school in Beijing. Chinese educator Xia Mianzun said, “Education without love is like pond without water, there would be no education without love.” Love is the most beautiful emotion of human being, it is the foundation of successful education. “I care about the growth of every child, my aim is to help students be more open-minded with opinions and things which are different from their own with respect, encouraging students to think critically and explore the unknown as a life-long learner. I hope that students could experience the diversity of culture and the beauty of human nature while interacting with the world. I believe, every child is the seed of a flower, with the nutrition of love, they will blossom some day in the future.”

Ms.Minnie has taught in the Confucius Institute of Kansas-state University in the United States, Chinaro Chinese School in Seoul, South Korea and other International Schools with 6 years teaching experience.As a teacher, she is strict and soft. She thinks the personality building is also as important as the academic progress. Self-esteem, optimism, and ideal is an important quality that needs to be cultivated in a child’s growth path.She enjoys the time that spent with children, and would like to into the spiritual world, and with growth of children.

Sonya Li has over 10 years of experience in domestic and overseas teaching and management. She was selected from a variety of outstanding teachers in Beijing, as one of four teachers, she went to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and completed the school establishment project. Sonya Li has been the backbone teacher, grade leader, chief of teaching research group and Primary Chinese coordinator.

Maria has been living between Australasia and Europe for the past 21 years. She has worked for the Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand. She has also worked in England, for Children’s Social Services and Newcastle University where she worked with international ESL students.

Maria moved to South Korea in 2012 with her husband to start a new chapter in their lives. It was here that both her sons were born.

It was in South Korea, where she started her teaching career, teaching both kindergarten and lower elementary school students. Then, three years ago Maria moved with her family to Beijing, and for the last year she has enjoyed working at BIBS.

Maria has a love for learning and vast experience in dealing with children, not only because she is a teacher but a mom, herself.

She has been part of the CKWA family for 3 years and is very excited to join CKWA teaching team, where she is happy to share her knowledge and love of teaching.

Ms. Cui has been teaching elementary education for 11 years.“Knows well, the person is better than the joy of” is her teaching concept. In her opinion, Kaiwen’s teaching feature can stimuler children’s potential and innovation, and make them enjoy learning. In teaching, she focuses on guiding students to seek the root of the problem and stimulating their learning autonomy and creativity. Ms. Cui is enthusiastic about cultivating students’ abilities and good habits, and most of the students she has taught over the years have developed a strong interest in learning. She is known for her loving, patient, attentive and enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning.

Mr. Jennings started his teaching career as a professor at Hebei Normal University for Nationalities, in Chengde, China. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, he spent time preparing to teach English to second language learners and began learning Chinese. For four years, he worked with college students and adults to better their English skills and prepare them to take the IELTS examination. After teaching adults for several years, he wanted to experience studying a second language in a classroom. He took a break from teaching for 6 months to study Chinese at Tsinghua University. During that time, he felt the need to further his understanding of using different teaching techniques with younger students and soon after took a job teaching children ages 6-14 in Haidian district for two and a half years. He presently finds himself at Chaoyang Kaiwen Academy exercising his combined 6 years of experience teaching adults and children. Mr. Jennings enjoys studying languages, knitting, reading, and playing the flute in his free time. He hopes to continue his education in understanding second language accquistion, and one day hopes to pursue a Ph.D in applied linguistics and cultural anthopology.

She has been teaching Chinese and bilingual education in international schools for more than ten years, and has taught Chinese National Curriculum and IBPYP in international bilingual schools. In her teaching, she follows the principle of “love and respect is the starting point of education”. With continuous exploration and research, she insists on operating education with heart, warming children’s hearts with love, leading them to bathe in the sunshine, and guiding them to immerse in the fragrance of books.

Buziwe has graduate from the University of Johannesburg with politics major, she has extensive elementary school experience, having taught at elementary schools in Thailand and South Korea, this is her third year in China.

She is good at planning and taught lessons, updated parents with student progress, trained, observed and advised students on professional development and work schedule.

Upon completing her studies, Lettaprogressed to having a career as a media analyst and a researcher, conducting alot of ethnographic work. She has more than 10 years experience working withstudents ranging from kindergarten to tertiary students. She’s been in Chinafor about six years and has copious amounts of experience. She has worked withstudents ranging from age three to twelve. Since she’s been in China… shehas worked at training schools, both local and international kindergartens andat an international primary school. She was the lead English teacher in theinternational kindergarten and she also taught first, third and fourth gradesat the primary school prior coming to CKWA.

Shes very intrigued by language anddifferent cultures in the world. Letta is passionate about education insocieties and the pivotal role it plays in empowering people. She believes thatfor societies to be progressive they must have an educated people, a peoplethat will engage and assist in transforming their communities.

She loves loves interacting with peoplefrom all spheres of life and she believes that we are all here to constantlyengage, share and exchange knowledge.She’s an artist at heart and also has a passion for the arts be it visual,performance and or any other medium people choose to express themselves.

Jasmine Zhang is a kind, creative and diligent teacher. She graduated from the Warsaw Social Psychological University. She has 9 years of experience in the Canadian International school of Beijing, and three years of experience as an MYP Chinese teacher at a bilingual school. As a language teacher, she will help students to further improve Chinese level and their understanding of Chinese culture and history, and form habits of reading. Jasmine loves to share her passion and expectation towards education with Kaiwen students.

After school Jay worked in hospitality and hospitality management due to his love for people and the social environment. After years of loyalty to his then employer, he transferred to a retail offering an online course of business management. Passing with distinction, he furthered his growth in the company doing multiple training courses and became a national risk and assessment manager traveling between retail branches completing numerous tasks and requirements set by the international investors. Years later he changed jobs to a new challenge: Teaching.

He came to China where he first worked in a training centre and a kindergarten at the same time, firmly believing that the develop and grow as a teacher he had to immerse himself in the teaching world entirely. He then spent time as a homeroom teacher until his class graduated to primary school.

He is immensely grateful for every lesson and obstacle he faced as well as the cultural exposure and enrichment in China. He believes in a balance between work, study and social life as he will further his studies in education, spend time with his partner and explore the beautiful country and culture of China.

After graduating, I worked as a Chinese teacher for 6 years. I’ve joined in a Chinese institution and taught many foreign students from different countries, such as America, France, Spanish, Turkey and so on. I trained Chinese local teacher and did office management as well. And then , I worked as a primary Chinese teacher in a bilingual school, where I gained rich experience in teaching and class management. My classes are lively and diverse and loved by students. I think “ love is the foundation of education. With love , we can create a promising and bright future . Every child is special with all the possibilities.” I hope we can inspire and help each other and grow up together.

Mr. Nichols is an extremely passionate teacher with over 9 years teaching experience in China. He has been known to always put the welfare and education of his students at the core of everything he does, and always works tirelessly to give them the best possible start in life through the education he provides as a teacher.

Before coming to China in 2013, he spent four years in the service industry as a Manager in The Bahamas. He also worked part-time tutoring English and Math, while mentoring in Summer Urban Renewal programs.

During his many years in China, he has held the positions of ESL teacher, part-time Assistant Teacher at a local university, Business English teacher, and Preschool Homeroom teacher. He has had the privilege of teaching numerous students between the ages of 5-17, and even adults.

His philosophy is that a teacher must have the ability to build strong relationships

with his/her students, their parents, and colleagues. Kindness, patience and care are the foundation; but above all, being totally dedicated to the teaching profession will be a positive influence on your style of teaching and its results.

Ben has English and media studies degree in Durham University, he is a highly driven, creative individual with experience in teaching, assessing and supporting

people of a wide range of ages and abilities. He worked as a homeroom teacher in a primary school before, teaching English to children, including planning age-appropriate content and teaching. Work closely with parents on a weekly basis to provide the best possible care for their children.

Ms. Wang has been involved in international education for more than 15 years, and has worked as a teacher and classroom teacher for grades 2-5, and as a Chinese Language Proficiency Test leader in an international school. Ms. Wang is familiar with the Cambridge International and IB curricula. In and out of class, Ms. Wang is very good at finding the strengths of each student and gets along well with them. She also likes to organize speech and elocution exercises to improve students’ confidence.

At the early stages of her career as an educator,Anika spent 11 and a half years of her life honing her craft as a teacher inGrenada where she was born. She taught at the primary level where she wasresponsible for teaching all the core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies,English). She was also responsible for teaching Spanish to all the classes,grade 1-6.

In a bid to further develop herself and attain higherqualifications, Anika relocated to Jamaica where she perused a bachelor’sdegree in Linguistic and Language Education at the highly accredited Universityof the West Indies Mona Campus. Shelater completed her teacher training at the Calabar High School Jamaica with distinction.Further, she was then offered a position at the school as a High schoolLiterature teacher. Subsequently, Anika, graduated then returned to her countrywhere she was again offered a job within the Government of Grenada in theMinistry of Education as a high school Literature and English teacher. She alsohad the responsibility of teaching Basic Written and Oral Spanish.

Anika has held leadership positions during her tenureas a primary school teacher in her country as HOD of the lower schooldepartment. She was given the opportunity to assist with the development of curriculumsfor the different core subjects and Spanish within the private school sector.

For the pastthree years Anika has been living and work in China doing and being what she loves;educating and being educated. She presently teaches grade two here at CKWAcombining her love for her students and the need to see them succeed, with afirm but loving hand and her love for music and dance in the classroom toensure a conducive learning environment for her charges. At present, Anika hasaccumulated a total of over fifteen years teaching experience in Grenada,Jamaica, and China. She loves the classroom and will continue to educatewhomever she encounters in and out of the classroom once the need arises.

Ms. Xu has an elementary school teaching certificate, has taught in IB international schools, and has participated in several IBO trainings and obtained the corresponding certificates. She has many years of teaching experience in international bilingual schools and has been teaching the national curriculum. She has always believed in the concept of “no education without love, no learning without interest” and that learning is an interactive and continuous activity for teachers and students. She is excited to work with children to grow and become lifelong learners.

Mr. Augat has lived and taught in China for over 10 years. He has experience teaching students from ages 2-18, and loved learning about his students’ interests and passions in order to make learning more enjoyable and engaging for them.

He’s excited to be part of Kaiwen and share his enthusiasm for teaching with the children and parents in the community. Outside of class, Mr. Augat likes cooking and traveling with his wife, as well as exploring Beijing by bicycle.

Teacher Michiel has been teaching for nearly five years. In these five years, he learned that every student is different and has different needs. He believe that learning should never be a burden and that the world would be a much better place if everyone strived to be life long learners. In a world that is growing ever more connected, Teacher Michiel considered that it is his duty as an English teacher to educate the next generation the language most Western people speak. Communication is extremely important in most aspects of life. The East and the West are coming closer together every day and China is leading this. That is why I think it is important for kids be proficient in English. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, taking his dog for a walk and learning to code.

Ms. Li has eight years of experience in Chinese teaching and international schools. She has taught the Chinese National Curriculum as well as the IB PYP International curriculum. Her experience lies within upper primary and Grade 6 & 7 where she worked as a homeroom teacher. In her daily teaching, she collaborated with western teachers to prepare lessons, carry out cooperative teaching and class management, and provide a diversified learning environment for students.

With a passion for Chinese teaching and international education, Ms. Li believes that every day with children is colorful and wonderful. She recognizes that children also learn from each other and they contribute to the learning environment. “I believe that every child is a diamond in the rough, waiting to be discovered, to be appreciated, and I want to be the one who discovers them, helps them and influences them, even if only a little bit.”

In her spare time, Ms. Li likes reading, being active in sports and traveling. She has kept her curiosity, hoping to measure the world with her feet and explore the unknown world through the books.

Mr. Ruggieri has been teaching in Asia for nearly a decade. He began teaching in the United States, substitute teaching, and volunteering as an ESL teacher for recent American immigrants. Having spent over six years teaching in South Korea, Mr. Ruggieri worked first in the Korean high school system and eventually transitioned to international schooling. He experienced many positive achievements with his students during this time, including aiding students in national and international competitions and aiding in preparation for the Korean national university entrance exams. Mr. Ruggieri’s classroom practice focuses a high degree of attention on developing students’ belief in their ability to accomplish classroom tasks and their behaviors undertaken in the process of learning. After moving to Beijing in 2017. Mr. Ruggieri completed his PGCEi through the University of Nottingham. Beyond his professional work Mr. Ruggieri has a range of interests, including cycling, scuba diving, weight sports, and photography.

Ms. Huang has ten years of experience in art and design and over five years of experience teaching visual arts in international schools. She has studied and worked overseas and has traveled to about 30 countries, where she enjoys exploring famous art museums and appreciating artworks from different countries.

In the classroom, she likes to break the rules, explore new things with students, experience the beauty and power of art, and let the children learn through fun.

She believes that “painting is a way for children to express themselves freely, not to compete with each other, and that every child is an artist.”

Ms. Lin has more than 8 years’ teaching experience in several international schools in Beijing. NenadRoksandic is a sports professional from Serbia. He has been teaching since 2012as a PE teacher and a Football coach in both Serbia and China. During histeaching and coaching career, he worked in high-reputation clubs, such as FCPartizan Belgrade and Inter Milan academy in Chengdu. He has also been a guestcoach educator in Harbin Football Association where he educated coaches inteaching various sports. Nenad is a passionate teacher who likes to focus onthe whole development rather than only physical.

Duringhis spare time, Nenad enjoys traveling and reading. He also plays footballevery weekend for a Beijing league.
