Ice Hockey Teenager Player Shiqi Li

CKWA pay a lot of attention to sports education, but with the purpose to train children into professionals, but shape children’s characters and leadership skills through sports. Children will get life-long benefits from these skills. Shiqi Li, the protagonist of today’s story, has acquired more meaningful achievements than win-or-lose through sports education, that is, the character of CKWA – her love and passion, her courage, her wisdom to solve difficulties and her adaptability to changes. Let’s learn about her story.

Encounter Ice Hockey
When Shiqi was three years old, she went to a shopping mall with mom and dad to have meal. That shopping mall had a lot of entertainment facilities. That day, she saw ice hockey playing the first time.

“I was walking, and suddenly felt some cold air blowing into my face. Then I saw a spacious and white ice rink, where a lot of big brothers and sisters were skating on. They were wearing some handsome helmet and armor, chasing a round ball. That was the first time I encounter ice hockey. I was so little to know what ice hockey is. But I somehow feel that it is my world.” Shiqi recalls the first time when she encounter the ice hockey.

Not long after, when she was 4 and half years old, she started to skate. She first practice gliding, then turning around, pushing off, and braking… These are all basic skills. She worked very hard, and kicked start her journey in the ice hockey world.

To practice ice hockey, she must get up very early. Always, without opening her eyes in the morning, she is already in the car, on the way for morning drill. In the evening, there are many times that she fell asleep in the car on the way home after hard practice. She always feels hungry because ice hockey is very energy consuming. But to save time for practice, she often grabs a bite during break time and then return to the rink again.

Gradually, ice hockey truly integrated into Shiqi’s life. Her toys become ice hockey board game. In the corner at home lie some little ice hockey player toys. Many of her clothes and caps are with ice hockey pics. Even when she travels with her parents to another city or country, she would like to see what the ice hockey at that place looks like.

Meet CKWA

Therefore, when Shiqi’s parents choose the right school for her three years ago, CKWA attracts their attention.
“Three years ago, we learnt about the courage, persistence and courage of CKWA’s demoiselle crane spirits. This aligns seamlessly with our education philosophy. At the same time, the international event standard ice rink, the world first-class coach team is another reason for us to choose CKWA. The education philosophy and the state-of-art facilities deeply attract us.” Shiqi’s dad told us.

Although transferring from public school to CKWA, Shiqi quickly integrated into life here. CKWA doesn’t only have the ice rink she loves, but also lovely and loving teachers. Practical English class, vivid Chinese class, after-school training with coaches… She has represented Kaiwen Ice Hockey team to participate in matches and competitions for many times.

Demoiselle Crane on the ice: Be courageous and persistent

You can imagine how challenging to be an ice hockey goalie for such a young girl.

One time, when Shiqi participated in an American event, the rival was very strong, and one head taller than Shiqi. “When the rear guard ran into the front court, there were together three people from the opposite side on the front court. The ball was passed among them three. There was no shooting range. It was too hard for defense. It would be lie to say that I didn’t freak out.” Shiqi recalls, “but I didn’t give up. My training was not in vain. When successfully blocking the ball, I would do funny face to the rivals and cheer with my teammates.”

As a goalie, her beautiful face was hidden behind the big helmet, but she still likes her cool outfit. At a young age, she always goes jogging with her dad, usually for two to three kilometers. Sometimes she feels really tired, but she has never wanted to give up. “It is my own choice. I will keep going. I love intercepting the shooting from the ‘enemy’. I love celebrating for success with my teammate. I love playing with other ice hockey players. And I love the white and spacious ice rink!” Shiqi shared with us excitedly.

From Shiqi, we see CKWA characters. This little girl who is kind, courageous, wise and adaptable, is growing happily and healthily at CKWA.

Through ice hockey, Shiqi has learnt the meaning of win and lose, how to be independent and how to be a team player, how to push her limits and persistent in her passion. It is beyond win and lose. It is the cultivation purpose of CKWA.

For now, Shiqi is not planning to be a professional ice hockey player in the future. For a 10-year-old girl, everything has only started.
